Wooden Sculpture Progress Post

We have been working on our wooden sculpture project for a few weeks and at this point I am still working carving away the background. Early on in the project I made a design change, but since then the project has been running smoothly. I've learned to either carve with or directly against the grain for a clean look and have also gained some experience working with clamps and sharpening chisels. In the next few weeks I hope to start working on the actual bird and figuring out how to give it a 3D rounded look.
