Credentials needed: Generally a college degree and passing the Architect Registration Examination is needed to become an architect, though internships are useful for gaining experience before entering the field.


Responsibilities: An Architect designs and plans out various buildings and structures, including houses, skyscrapers, bridges. On a day to day basis architects generally meet with the clients they are working for, collaborate with other professionals such as engineers, and work on the plans/designs for their structure. Architects may also work with technology frequently as it is a useful tool for planning designs and collaboration.


College Majors: Architecture is the most common major to become and architect, however other majors such as engineering, computer science, or environmental design may also be useful.


Starting Salary: $82,320
